And lucky for the both of us, my place as one of the world’s preeminent writers has already been etched into stone by the lords of language themselves, the arbiters of alphabet.

That’s right: I was crowned King in Reading Rainbow’s Eleventh Annual National Young Writers & Illustrators Contest 2005.

And by king I mean 3rd place, but I can only assume their judges foresaw how damaging a 1st or 2nd place finish might be for an aspiring writer’s ego.

I’ll go ahead and guarantee the same quality writing, if not better, that earned me that award when I was 7.
